Rosacea treatments in cardiff, south wales
Rosacea
Rosacea occurs on the face and is characterised by redness, inflamed spots and a tendency to flush. It is more common in fair-skinned but may also occur in people with pigmented skin.
Rosacea tends to start in the 20’s and 30’s and usually lasts a long time, with periods when it is relatively clear and periods when it flares ups.
Treatment for rosacea aims to reduce and clear the spots from the face.
In some rosacea patients tiny thread veins in the facial skin (termed “telangiectasia”) can be cleared with laser or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Sunlight often worsens rosacea and a high factor sunscreen is often of benefit. There are various topical creams and gels that can be used for milder variants of rosacea, between flare-ups.
